Tatklmoon Arabi? The Samsung Tab Does…

By: Sherief Ahmed

In today’s world most technologies are English based, even if sold in non-English speaking countries.  There are always modifications you can make to the devices however it’s never a built-in language.  With the new craze over tablets, for example the iPad and other similar devices, Samsung made a smart move to diversify and launch a second tablet that is “fluent in Arabic.”

The Samsung Galaxy Tab is fully equipped with Arabic as a native language.  “The Arab world today is becoming more and more fast-paced where constant communication and efficient tools are essential to stay up to speed. Smart tablets have enabled us to have access to information everywhere and at any time,” Jun said Jun, Mobile Phone Sales & Marketing Director at Samsung Gulf.  Ladies and Gentlemen, the Middle Eastern market has arrived!  Samsung’s Tab being fluent in Arabic is an obvious business move, to gain more market shares in the region than competitors, but it will also help the resurgence of the importance of the Arabic language again.

So what does it mean to be fluent in Arabic? It simply means it offers Arabic content in applications on social media and access to Islamic websites. “It comes fully equipped with the native Arabic language which means no more illegible characters when checking your Arabic content,” Jun said. One of the main applications to set this in motion is the Samsung’s Noor Applications which include 10 apps to help enhance the lifestyle of Muslims in the MENA region.

This application comes with the Al Sunna, Al Doaa, Mobile Quran, Prayer Times, and others.  These applications give users the ability to customize their region for example, prayer times.  The Hijri Calendar is actually integrated with the regular calendar with real time updates of Islamic and National Holidays.  Another great application has comprehensive explanations for the origins and benefits of Prayers, and other practices.

Technology, Arabic and the Muslim lifestyle all in one device…Samsung may have gotten it right!  Serving this underrepresented demographic will not only help the audience but Samsung may have just won over the hearts of many Arabic-speaking customers.
