Ferrari World Abu Dhabi: Are you Ready for it?

By: Bushra Tayh

Ladies and Gentlemen, Ferrari World has officially opened.  Be ready to be engulfed by Ferrari, and we’re not kidding…

Abu Dhabi’s latest masterpiece is Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, an indoor theme park celebrating the famous Italian sports car manufacturer, Ferrari.  Recent visitors to Abu Dhabi may have noticed the enormous structure stretching on Yas Island, a rapidly growing tourist attraction located 30 minutes from the city.  On the structure’s roof is the red, triangular-shaped Ferrari logo, which looks spectacular from bird’s-eye view. The project took nearly three years to complete and opened to the public on October 27, 2010.

But don’t let the name fool you. Ferrari World isn’t solely for race car fanatics.

“There’s more to Ferrari World Abu Dhabi than the thrill of speed racing and powerful cars,” said Andy Keeling, Park Manager.  “The park celebrates Ferrari’s past and present, and pays homage to its Italian roots in a bespoke and innovative way, from the stunning structure through to the attractions and various experiences offered.”

Visitors to the park get the chance to ride the world’s fastest roller coaster, the Formula Rossa, which moves at a staggering speed of 150 mph.  Ferrari World also boasts the world record for the largest indoor theme park, featuring more than 20 cutting-edge rides and attractions with a family-friendly atmosphere and six rides catered to children.

“There’s a spectacular surprise for guests at each corner inside Ferrari World Abu Dhabi, whether in the creative interiors, sophisticated concepts of the rides, or the mind boggling technology and history showcases,” added Keeling.

Visitors can also shop at the world’s largest Ferrari Store and create personal souvenirs at the Ferrari boutique.  All retail outlets offer customized gifts, Ferrari fashion, and vintage memorabilia that can be purchased and shipped to a local hotel or as a gift to anywhere in the world.  The park includes a wide variety of restaurants and food carts serving Italian and international snacks and meals.

“Ferrari owners and drivers have enjoyed the distinctiveness of this aspirational brand for decades; now it’s everybody’s turn to experience it!” Keeling concluded.  Regardless of taste, the Ferrari World experience is sure to be worthwhile for people who have lost interest in the typical rides and attractions found in many modern-day theme parks.
