The cast and crew of upcoming sci-fi blockbuster, ‘Star Trek Beyond’, arrived in Dubai on Wednesday ahead of shooting for the much-anticipated movie.

The Hollywood delegation made their debut in the emirate at a press conference opened by Jamal Al Sharif, chairman of Dubai Film and TV Commission, which featured the movie’s director Justin Lin, producer Jeffrey Chernov, screenwriter Doug Jung, actor and screenwriter Simon Pegg and lead actors Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, Karl Urban, John Cho, Anton Yelchin and Idris Elba.

During the press conference, the cast and crew revealed their excitement at filming in Dubai. When asked why the emirate was chosen as a filming destination, Jeffrey Chernov said: “We came searching for the future and we found it in Dubai.”

He continued: “Dubai represents the future of what the frontier would be like in our film, and is an excellent place to shoot the movie as well as a special opportunity for all of us. This is not just the third of three movies, but has a new, refreshing twist, and Dubai’s great visuals really fit the story.”
