Amir Khan Crosses the Pond and Dominates

“He talks a lot, and he’s really getting a little bit ahead of himself, and now he’s getting a little bit on my nerves. Actually, he’s getting a lot a bit on my nerves, to tell you the truth. I think the most enjoyable part of [the fight] is going to be beating the s— out of him, not even winning the world title. That’s going to be like the second most enjoyable part.”

Those are the words of boxer and New York native, Paulie Malignaggi, directed toward Amir Khan, before Saturday’s World Boxing Association (WBA) light welterweight title match at Madison Square Garden, where Amir Khan ended up winning in an 11th round TKO.

Hey Paulie, next time try not to let yourself near reporters before your next big fight. I’m just saying.

Amir Khan, a Muslim British native of Pakistani decent, has been a boxing sensation in the UK since 2004, but hadn’t boxed Stateside before Saturday. Good news, adolescent American Muslim boys – you have a new role model and he looks just like you except with a much better physique!

Someone put his name on a kufi for kids to wear to the mosque or give him his own PS3 title, because I think he’s just about to be the next big thing in worldwide boxing.

At least, I hope so.
