Zade: Concert for Peace in the Middle East

By Fareeda Ahmed

January 25, 2010

He has performed for Nelson Mandela, the Dalai Lama, and Queen Elizabeth. He has collaborated with global, Grammy-award winning artists. His music combines East and West as never before, in an effort to hijack the world stage (and a considerable amount of teenage girl wallspace) as a musical response to terrorists who “hijack my religion.”

ZADE!

And now he’s coming to the world stage on a tour follow his eclectic album, “One Night in Jordan: A Concert for Peace,” dropping on February 9th. The actual concert, dedicated “in loving memory of His Majesty the late King Hussein of Jordan,” took place in the summer of 2008 at a two-millenia year old Roman amphitheatre.

Sound amazing? It looks amazing too! Check out the amazing profiles of some of the 40 musicians who took part in the concert.

Lucky for you, you can now hear it on CD, catch the DVD recording of the concert, or watch a recast to air on PBS this year!

I’ll look forward to hearing the recordings from the biggest concert Jordan has ever had… and imagining that it’s a private serenade in the privacy of my home. Bravo Zade! And well done, Jordan, for supporting a truly visionary artist.
