Facebook Launches Workplace to help connect Organizations and Employees in MENA

4

Facebook announced today that Workplace (formerly known as Facebook at Work) will now be available to any organization across the MENA region that wants to use it. Workplace is a communications platform that helps organizations collaborate better, using familiar Facebook features like News Feed, Groups and Messages.

The best of Facebook, plus new features

Workplace offers a wide range of functions, including the basic infrastructure such as: News Feed, the ability to create and share in Groups, or useful features such as Live, Reactions, Search and Trending posts. This allows a user to chat with a colleague across the world in real time, host a virtual brainstorm in a Group, or follow along with CEO’s presentation on Facebook Live.

Facebook also built unique, Workplace-only features that companies can benefit from such as a Dashboard with Analytics and Integrations with single sign-on. Also, personal and professional profiles on Facebook at Work are kept completely separate, with dedicated mobile apps for Work and Work Chat.

Jonathan Labin, Head of Facebook MENA, commented: “Facebook has spent its first 12 years connecting people in their personal lives. With Workplace, we are now able to help users improve productivity through collaboration on a platform that they are already familiar with. We now want to help companies in the MENA region build connections between coworkers and transform how teams work together. Organizations are stronger – and more productive – when everyone comes together.”

As people spend more time on mobile devices, organizations want to be able to reach them where they are, and enable collaboration, both inside and outside the office. Workplace serves as a mobile-first enterprise solution and brings real business benefits to organizations by enabling people to work better together.

In the region, large companies like Landmark Group rolled out Workplace to help their leadership to communicate with over 9,000 employees for important company-wide announcements across all languages and time zones.

Vipen Sethi, CEO Landmark Group said: “For a large and diverse company like ours, Workplace was an ideal solution for our employees to connect and collaborate faster and more efficiently across teams and regions. Landmark employees also have the option of using the Workplace App in Arabic, which is especially great for Arabic-speaking team members.”

People work in different ways, around the world, and Workplace’s mission is to help them stay connected.
