Libya’s Colonel Muammar Gaddafi is a jack of all traders. Dictator. Military leader. Author. Trendsetter. Bedouin tent spokesman. And on top of all of that, he is writing a TV show! Is there anything this man can’t do?

Last week, Al Arabiya reported that Gaddafi is working on a TV script that will “combat Islamophobia” and illustrate the kinds of issues Arabs face in the Middle East, Europe and Asia, highlighting the oppression, discrimination and marginalization they experience in their homelands and abroad. The script, which will be adapted by the Syrian team of writer Fadel Affash and director Ziad al-Rayes, will also explore the relationship between Muslims and Christians in Arab countries, and the one between citizens and their dictatorial regimes. (Spoiler Alert: Libya will not be included in the category of dictatorial regime.)

I personally cannot wait until next Ramadan for this series to air. If it’s anything as good as Gaddafi’s UN speech, it will have people glued to their seats all month long. I just hope he follows through this time. Remember when his novel, “Years of Torture and Oppression,” was being made into a movie but production came to halt two years into filming it? Disappointment. Then there was the time when he said he would set up a direct, popular democracy but instead, he assumed a position in which he has near absolute power. What a bummer.

There is just no telling if this show will ever actually make it to air, but one could only hope. After all, he can’t be “King to Kings” or “Imam of Muslims” (titles he calls himself) if he is not upholding his word.
