That title is only going to rhyme if you know how to pronounce “Baraat"… and what better way to get your point across than with a rhyme. It is no lie though, Red Baraat is very cool and definitely hitting the dhol scene with something fresh, new and most importantly fun.
The band yelps “OH HO,” as they enter the venue 92YTribeca in New York City with an army of brass instruments. No, that is not a joke; they have an enormous horn section playing with the lead dhol drummer, Sunny Jain.
I know most of you have gone to some desi wedding and have witnessed the horrific experience of some overweight embarrassing mother in a not so flattering saree dancing to typical wedding music but Red Baraat fixes all that. Not only would they be STUPENDOUS at any wedding (not just desi), they are also terrific to see in a concert.
Red Baraat is over the top, very crazy and will definitely knock your socks off. They are currently touring so be sure to check them out. Also, notable mention to Nation Beat. They were also at the show and were totally kickin.
