However, what was once touted as a never before attempted odyssey between man and brute steel is now raising a whole bunch of eyebrows. A series of guffaws, disasters, missteps and utter failures has plagued the enormous monstrosity ever since its gilded doors were officially opened.

While most countries of the world are “going green” for the sake of the environment, many people in Kuwait are going “red,” as they chew and spew homemade chewing tobacco-esque concoctions made of both natural and synthetic ingredients. Once in the mouth, and the chewing begins, the result is a thick dark red sputum that the chewer propels out of their mouth and onto any available target - sidewalk, wall, bus stop, elevator and the like. Charming, right?

Italian designer Eliana Lorena has outfitted 500 Barbies in cultural clothes from around the world to be sold at an auction in Florence, Italy in celebration of Barbie’s 50th anniversary. Mattel’s release of these 500 special collectors’ Barbies spurred a lot of controversy, but you won’t hear about Kimono Barbie, Gomesi Barbie or Selwar Kameez Barbie. Nope. Everyone’s talking about Burqa Barbie - and it’s not because they’re admiring her colorful choices.
