Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi offers services in Heart & Vascular and Respiratory & Critical Care Institutes

18clinic-web-articleLargeCleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi, part of Mubadala’s network of world-class healthcare facilities, began accepting appointments today for services in two of its Centers of Excellence, the Heart & Vascular and Respiratory & Critical Care Institutes.

The Heart & Vascular Institute is initially offering general cardiology and vascular medicine and the Respiratory & Critical Care Institute is providing services in pulmonology and bronchoscopy.

The new services join those already available in the Eye, Neurological and Digestive Disease Institutes, together representing all five of Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi’s Centers of Excellence.

Additionally, more services have also become available in the Neurological Institute including treatments for multiple sclerosis and neuro-rehabilitation.

Dr. Tomislav Mihaljevic, Chief of Staff and Chief, Heart & Vascular Institute, said, “We are proud to now welcome patients in all of our five Centers of Excellence, which are specializations designed to address some of the most pressing complex and critical care needs of Abu Dhabi and the UAE. Our mission is to provide the same standard of quality care locally that patients would expect to receive at Cleveland Clinic in the US, thereby reducing their need to travel abroad for complex care.”

Dr. Mihaljevic continued, “The heritage of our Heart & Vascular Institute comes from the Cleveland Clinic, which has been ranked by U.S. News & World Report as the #1 heart hospital in the US for the last consecutive 20 years.”

Dr. Jeffrey Chapman, Chief, Respiratory & Critical Care Institute commented: “Our priority at the Respiratory and Critical Care Institute is to provide highly-specialized treatment for patients with lung and breathing disorders.”

Dr. Chapman, who also serves as Chief, Quality & Patient Safety Institute, added: “Part of replicating Cleveland Clinic’s Model of Care is maintaining a constant focus on promoting the highest standards of effective, efficient and safe healthcare delivery across each Institute. To do so, we’ve implemented a comprehensive program to evaluate and improve operational processes, helping to ensure world-class care for every patient we see.”

At this time, Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi accepts select Daman enhanced and Thiqa insurance plans, and also welcomes patients who wish to self-pay.

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi complements the current healthcare landscape in Abu Dhabi by focusing on highly-specialized care for heart, brain, digestive, eye and respiratory conditions. By the end of May 2015, the hospital will provide most of its complex and critical care services designed to address some of the specific health challenges affecting Abu Dhabi and UAE patients. The Emergency Department will be the final service to open by May 31, 2015.

Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi will not offer orthopedics, obstetrics, gynecology services, or treat patients under the age of 14 with the exception of the Eye Institute, and will not be a trauma center.
