12 Innovators Who Changed Our Lives

People draw inspiration from all around – from nature, from art or from other people. Sometimes inspiration is triggered by the need for a change, which then results in a product that serves the entire community, or the world.

For Innovation Week, we remember a few prominent individuals who changed the world as we know it, and made all our lives a little better. Their inventions are seen in every part of our lives:

1. Thomas Edison is responsible for the light around you, creating a long-lasting light bulb among other inventions such as the phonograph (the first recording machine).

2. Abbas ibn Firnas and The Wright Brothers were one of the early care the reasons why you fly and travel. While Abbas created the first winged apparatus, the brothers were inspired to create the first airplane.

3. Charles Babbage created the first computer prototype, earning him the title ‘Father of Computers’.

4. Alexander Graham Bell’s deaf wife inspired him to create the very first telephone – which later evolved to the mobile phones in our hand.

5. Astronomy, math and physics are what inspired Galileo to create the telescope.
